A spate of speeding fines have been issued on South Ayrshire roads as police clamp down on careless drivers. A total of 17 fixed penalty notices were issued as officers took to the Carrick area following road safety concerns raised by local communities.

Local officers were joined by special constables from Police Scotland Volunteers this week. Motorists in the region were observed with fines handed over two days, including to one driver for an MOT offence.A total of 199 vehicles were stopped and checked for documents.

Officers have made road safety a key priority and have responded to complaints from residents over speeding.
