Scots holidaymakers hoping to ket off to Spain may need their booster jab to enter the country from next month. The new rules were announced by the Spanish Government and mean from February 1 only travellers fully vaccinated in the previous 270 days can visit.

Scots will need to provide a vaccine certificate in order to cross Spanish borders with those who received their last dose more than nine months ago requiring a booster jab to enter.

The rules also mean that anyone needing a booster will need their third dose at least 14 days before setting off on their Spanish travels, reports Devon Live.

Evidence of a booster dose must be contained on the NHS vaccine certification app or document to enter. The country's official travel website Safe Spain stated: “From February 1, 2022, in order to travel to Spain with a vaccination certificate, the certificate must have been issued by the competent authorities of the country of origin at least 14 days after the date of administration of the last dose of the full course of vaccination, as long as the final dose of that course of vaccination was no more than 270 days ago.”The move means holidaymakers planning to visit mainland Spain, the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands for a half-term break must check their vaccination status before travelling. All arrivals must also fill out a Spanish Government Health Control Form prior to arrival.
