A local businessman has become a hero after he was stabbed trying to intervene in the tragic Southport attack yesterday. Jonathan Hayes, 63, owner of Masters Ltd Vehicle Body Repairs on Hart Street, responded instinctively to screams he heard while at his office window, which overlooks the Hart Space dance studio where the horrific stabbings occurred on Monday.
Mr Hayes attempted to disarm the assailant who was attacking children and teachers but was stabbed in the leg himself before collapsing at the scene.
A 17-year-old male has since been arrested by police on suspicion of murder and attempted murder following the horrific attack that left two children dead and left nine others injured.
Six of those injured are critically ill in hospital, reports the Mirror. READ MORE: The beach near Greater Manchester with the cheapest fish and chips in the UK Mr Hayes' spouse Helen Hayes, 57, described the harrowing events to the Daily Telegraph.
