South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are opening up about why the animated series is delayed and why they will skip the 2024 elections.
In a new interview, Parker and Stone revealed they are not keen on joking about Donald Trump anymore, which is part of the reason Comedy Central won’t return until 2025. “We’ve tried to do South Park through four or five presidential elections, and it is such a hard thing to—it’s such a mind scramble, and it seems like it takes outsized importance,” Stone told Vanity Fair while promoting their ¡Casa Bonita Mi Amor!
documentary. “ Parker added, “Obviously, it’s f***ing important, but it kind of takes over everything and we just have less fun.
I don’t know what more we could possibly say about Trump.” Stone said that the show’s not returning until next year was “on purpose” as they would surely avoid the election cycle.
