South Lanarkshire College Foundation marks 10th anniversary

A charitable organisation set up to support students and promote further education is celebrating its 10th anniversary.The South Lanarkshire College Foundation was established in 2014 and has since helped fund projects ranging from a low-carbon building to provision of free food and hleping assess and build on core English and numeracy skills.Its latest work includes funding a student counsellor and mental health support, and the creation of a new garden on its East Kilbride campus.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Its latest work is to support the setting-up of the Friends of South Lanarkshire horticulture garden within the college grounds, aiming to provide both mental and physical health benefits.Foundation chair Peter Sweeney MBE said: “This initiative really impressed the trustees and we’re excited to see the results – students from the construction and built environment area are involved in the fit-out of the garden, and it demonstrates a commitment to cost reduction through clever use of resources.”Trus
