Sophie Wessex wipes away tears as 'Queen's favourite daughter-in-law' says goodbye

Sophie, Countess of Wessex looked emotional as she attended her beloved mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II's, funeral on Monday.The 57 year old could be seen wiping tears from her eyes at Westminster Abbey, where she was sat alongside her husband, Prince Edward, 58, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, who also both looked emotional.

Sophie arrived alongside Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, earlier on in the day, with the duo making their way to Westminster via car while their husbands arrived on foot.

Mum-of-two Sophie looked downcast as she attended her mother-in-law's State Funeral, following her death on Thursday 8 September at Balmoral Castle.

After marrying the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, back in 1999, Sophie struck up an exceptionally close relationship with Her Majesty and regularly made the 10-mile trip to visit the monarch at her home in Windsor.
