Sophie, the Countess of Wessex appeared to be visibly emotional on Saturday as she anxiously watched her two children, Lady Louise Windsor, 18 and James, Viscount Severn, 14, take part in a vigil beside their grandmother, The Queen’s coffin.
Alongside the late monarch’s six other grandchildren, the two youngsters spent fifteen minutes as part of a ceremonial honour guard as the Queen continues to Lie-in-State at Westminster Hall ahead of her funeral on Monday.
Watching from the sidelines, both Sophie and her husband Prince Edward witnessed the historic event firsthand, with the Countess looking to be visibly moved by the dignity and poise of her children as they carried out the vigil.
Remaining calm and composed, the two youngsters were joined by several senior royals for the vigil ceremony, with Prince William leading the vigil at the head of the coffin, while dressed in his military dress uniform.
