Sophie Ellis-Bextor has disclosed that her husband required counselling following her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013.The 'Murder on the Dance Floor' singer, 45, was paired with Brendan Cole, 48, on the BBC dance show.
Sophie insists that Brendan behaved like a "complete gentleman", however, she confessed that her husband, Richard Jones, 45, and father of her five children, was deeply affected.The closeness required for Strictly was difficult for Sophie and she indicated that her husband began to find it problematic from the time of the launch show.
She said: "It was so hard for him that I can remember wondering if they'd ever had a contestant walk away from the show before they'd even danced their first dance."Sophie revealed in an interview that during her participation in the show, "some of the other contestants' marriages and relationships were under strain".
She added that there were three marriages that ended in her year on the competition, and two children were born to fellow contestants and their dance partners, reports the Mirror.
