Sony Pictures attempted to make a universe out of Spider-Man characters through movies like Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter, but they were unfortunately major flops at the box office.

While Disney owns Marvel, Sony has the rights to the Spider-Man character and has created several spin-offs featuring other characters from the Spider-Man universe.

Other movies include the Venom franchise and Morbius. Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra is responding to backlash for the movies and putting blame on critics and the press for the poor reception.
