A son told of the moment he found his mum’s body after she was allegedly murdered by his dad. Stephen Maher said Jeanna Maher was bound with a tie and wire and had suffered a horrific head injury.

He was with younger brother Richard when they found Jeanna, 51, in her bedroom which had been left like “a bombsite”. He told the High Court in Glasgow: “She was covered in blood. “The top part of her skull was missing.

Her hands were tied up, her feet were tied up.” Stephen, 35, tried giving his mum CPR, but she had already passed away. He was giving evidence at the trial of his dad Peter Maher, 61, who denies killing Jeanna at their home in the city’s Drumchapel on September 26, 2018.

The allegation includes claims Maher repeatedly struck his wife with a mallet or similar item. Stephen told how Maher had earlier answered the door after he and Richard had arrived home.
