The heartbroken son of a Scots NHS worker who passed away from suspected coronavirus has thanked her colleagues for giving her the send off she deserved.

Jane Murphy, who spent more than 30 years caring for others, sadly passed away on April 16 with her loving family by her side.The 73-year-old, who refused to retire, was a clinical support worker at the hospital for several years and was affectionately known as “Ma Murphy”.Dozens of heartbroken hospital staff lined the street to say their final goodbye to the Scots NHS hero during lockdown.

The funeral cortege for Jane stopped outside the A&E department of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on Thursday morning.The hearse was accompanied by a piper as it slowly made its way past the hospital
