SNP MSP congratulates Queen's Park on 'seismic victory' against Rangers with motion in Parliament

An SNP MSP has shared a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating Queen's Park on their "seismic victory" against Rangers.James Dornan, whose Cathcart constituency includes Hampden Park, has invited other members at Holyrood to sign his message to Scotland's oldest football club.Queen's pulled off one of the biggest upsets of recent times when they ran out 1-0 winners at Ibrox on Sunday in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.It was the first time the Spiders had won a tie against Rangers in the country's leading knock-out competition since 1882, as well as being the first time the Govan club had ever lost a Scottish Cup tie to a team from a lower division.

Dornan's motion said "Parliament congratulates Scotland’s oldest football club, Queen’s Park, which is based in the Cathcart constituency, on its Fifth Round Scottish Cup tie victory over Rangers, at Ibrox Park, to progress to the next round of the cup".He invited MSPs to recognise: "That it is a seismic victory in the history of the Scottish Cup and Queen's Park; congratulates the manager, Callum Davidson and all his players, notably Calum Ferrie on a career defining last minute penalty save and Seb Drozd on his match-winning goal; notes that this is the first time ever that Rangers FC has lost at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup to a team from a lower division, and wishes Queen's Park FC well as the team takes further steps towards a potential cup victory for the first time in 132 years and for an 11th occasion overall."Dornan previously used a motion at Holyrood to blast what he claimed was a "culture of secrecy" at the Scottish FA as he tabled a parliament motion over the VAR fallout after the match between Celtic and Rangers in January last year.The MSP also
