“Snow White” is far different than the 1937 animated figure who Rachel Zegler called a stalker in her criticism of the original film.Played by Andrew Burnap, Snow White’s love interest in Marc Webb’s movie is a man named Jonathan — and he’s far from a royal.Jonathan is a poor, Robin Hood-like thief who meets Zegler’s Snow White in the woods, where he is the leader of a group that opposes the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot).This version of the prince is not Snow’s rescuer or soulmate — just as Zegler, 23, wanted.However, the pair do still share a true love’s first kiss in the film.“Snow White” has experienced many controversies ahead of its release Friday, including Zegler’s viral comments about the original Disney flick.At Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022, Zegler compared the original prince character to a stalker.“The original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so.
There’s a big focus on her love story with the guy who literally stalks her. Weird, weird,” she told “Extra.”The actress said to Variety at the time that Snow White is “not going to be saved by the prince” in the remake.
She also declared that the new film would be more “modern” than the “dated” animated movie.But Zegler appeared to walk back her stalker comment about the prince in a recent interview with Allure.“Snow White is on her own mission and she falls in love along the way, which is really awesome,” Zegler said. “That’s how life happens.
