Ryan Gosling has won numerous awards throughout his acting career, and he's now finally been nominated for an Emmy Award. However, he hasn't been nominated for one of his hit films - instead it is for his role in a Saturday Night Live episode.

Following the hit Beavis and Butt-Head sketch in April, in which Ryan, 43, starred as Beavis, he has been nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category at this year's Emmys.

He is up against Jon Bernthal, Matthew Broderick, Christopher Lloyd, Bob Odenkirk and Will Poulter. The sketch featured in SNL's 49th season, in an episode that proved hugely memorable and was a hit with fans.

Ryan was on SNL mainly to promote The Fall Guy, in which he stars alongside Emily Blunt. In one of the episode's sketches, Ryan jokingly wished farewell to his Barbie character Ken, comparing it to a break-up.
