Earlier this month, TV presenter Jo Wilson revealed exclusively to OK! that she had been diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer this summer.
After undergoing life-saving radiotherapy and chemotherapy for six weeks, Jo - who lives in the Cotswolds with her long term partner Dan and two year old daughter Mabel - now faces an anxiety-ridden wait to see whether her gruelling treatment has worked.
And it has not been easy. “I’m totally wiped out to be honest,” the 37 year old star exclusively tells OK! “The final week of treatment involved a three day hospital stay and some internal radiotherapy which has definitely taken its toll.” Jo, who’s been off work since the diagnosis, says her focus is now on “recovering and building up my strength,” after losing a stone when treatment shattered her appetite.
After describing cancer as the “the biggest challenge of my life”, she’s determined to remain positive, though admits there are inevitably dark times when fears creep in. “It’s a little scary,” Jo confesses, about her three month wait for the scan results. “When I was going for treatment every day it felt like something pro-active was happening in terms of treating the disease,” she explains. “Whereas now, it just feels like a bit of a waiting game….” The Scottish Sky Sports star bravely opened up earlier to us about her fears of leaving daughter Mabel, two, motherless.
