Wayne Godfrey had abstained from alcohol for nearly two decades but quickly lost control when he started drinking at the Horn and Trumpet pub in Worcester.

The 44-year-old from Kidderminster in Worcestershire, threatened to knife landlord Adrian Birch and burn down his pub after he was refused any more drink.

Worcester Magistrates Court heard how he yelled: “I will stab you! Come outside and I will sort you out properly. “I will have you and burn the pub down!” When a police officer arrived Godfrey grabbed his body armour causing an injury to the PC's neck.
