Rod Stewart has announced the death of his older brother Bob as he mourns his 'best mate'. The Maggie May singer shared the sad news with fans on social media.

It comes just weeks after the 77-year-old lost his other sibling Don who passed away aged 94 in September.He told his 1.2million followers: "It’s with great sadness that I announce the loss of my brother Bob last night, who joins my brother Don on the great football pitch in the sky."I’ve lost two of my best mates in the space of two months.

The singer is due to continue his tour in Aberdeen on Friday December 2 before returning to Glasgow on Saturday December 3.The Hoops daft singer was the youngest of five children of Robert Stewart and Elsie Gilbart, with his two brothers and two sisters being born in Scotland before the family moved to London, where he was born.Rod and his older sibling Bob shared a deep love for football, despite supporting opposing teams.
