Sir Elton John is due to have hip surgery after "falling awkwardly on a hard surface".The musician will be having his operation in the next few days which has pushed back his retirement tour.The 74 year old said: "I’ve had to postpone limbo dancing for a little while.

I’m going to have my hip operated on early in October. "Then I shall be recuperating and doing my physiotherapy and hopefully I’ll be all right in a couple of months.

So fingers crossed." Sir Elton had planned gigs around Europe and the UK, which were due to take place between October and December this year.
