Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.

He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.

Sir David Attenborough smiles as he's awarded high honour from Prince Charles

National treasure Sir David Attenborough beams as he was awarded his second Knight Grand Cross honour from the Duke of Wales Prince Charles.

The 96 year old environmentalist and broadcaster collected his award for services to television broadcasting and to conversation on Wednesday.

Sir David was first knighted by the Queen in 1985, and now collected the even more prestigious Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George from her son at Windsor Castle.The much-loved environmentalist's career spans over seven decades, winning awards and critical acclaim for his nature documentaries including Natural World, Wildlife on One, and the Planet Earth franchise.

Sir David is also a member of the Earthshot Prize council, which is an initiative launched by the Duke of Cambridge to find solutions to environmental issues.The biologist and natural historian appeared in a segment of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Party at the Palace’s concert on June 4.
