Aberdeen have revealed Sir Alex Ferguson will be coming back to Pittodrie next month to take in their clash with Dundee United as the club get set to unveil a statue in his honour.

Sir Alex won three league titles with the Dons and famously lifted two European trophies at Pittodrie – including the 1983 Cup Winners' Cup.

He went on to dominate English football with Manchester United but is held in equally high regard at Aberdeen where he claimed 10 major honours in total.

The club confirmed late last year they will unveil a bronze statue in his honour outside Pittodrie. And they have now announced all will be revealed on Friday, February 25 – a day before their clash with Dundee United.
