Sir Alex Ferguson's "strange" phone call that helped Man Utd to two Premier League titles

Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha has reflected on the "strange" phone call he received from Sir Alex Ferguson that paved the way for his January 2004 move to Old Trafford.

French attacker Saha had been in prolific form for Fulham over the previous three-and-a-half seasons at Craven Cottage, scoring the goals that helped the Whites to promotion to the Premier League in 2001.

He'd managed 15 goals in 22 games in the 2003/04 season when he got the call from Ferguson to go and sign for United, and although Fulham initially blocked his move he ended up linking up with the Red Devils in a £12.4million deal.
