Sinitta gushes over 'amazing' ex Simon Cowell: 'He's my baby'

Eighties popstar Sinitta and music producer Simon Cowell spent three decades in and out of a passionate relationship before a twist of fate called time on their romance for good some years ago.

Ever since, however, the pair have enjoyed a close-knit friendship, with 'So Macho' singer Sinitta often appearing alongside The X Factor boss Simon over the years at the 'judge's houses' stage of the competition.

And catching up with OK! this week, the 59-year-old mother-of-two says she and Simon, 64, are now even closer than ever, dubbing the father-of-one, her "baby". “He’s one of my die-hard friends.

He’s an amazing person and he’s been an incredible friend,” she gushes. “It feels cheap to call him a friend because he’s definitely family.” Simon and his fiancée Lauren Silverman live in America with their son Eric, but Sinitta gets in touch with the couple regularly. “I was speaking to Lauren recently to ask when they’d be back in the UK because we usually celebrate Thanksgiving together,” she says. “I’m looking forward to them coming back at some point because it’s been a long time.” While no wedding date has been set, Sinitta says she’s “so happy” that Simon has settled down. “We’re godparents to each other’s children and it makes me happy to see him happy, and I think likewise for him,” she adds.
