Speaking of the news, Sinéad’s family said that they were “devastated” and made the announcement with “great sadness”. The pop superstar was known by people across the world by fans thanks to songs including Nothing Compares 2 U, which stayed at the top of the Official Singles Chart for four consecutive weeks following its release in 1990.
Throughout her music career, which spanned almost four decades, Sinéad secured eight UK Top 40 singles after rising to fame as a solo artist.
However, away from the spotlight, she was a doting mum. Sinéad’s first child, Jake, was born in 1987 and is the son of music producer John Reynolds - who Sinéad called her “best friend” during an interview with The Guardian in 2021.
