Norwegian researchers have claimed that they've finally found the answer to adding years onto your life expectancy, and it's all down to the diet you follow.
The new study found that by giving up a traditionally 'Western diet', in favour of an 'optimal diet', you could add nearly 10 years onto your life expectancy.
Researchers at the University of Bergen, Norway, have discovered that following an optimal diet from the age of 60 adds 9.1 years to the life expectancy of a 60-year-old European man, and 8.1 years for a woman. The peer-reviewed study, published on Tuesday in the journal Plos Medicine, was transformed into an online tool called the Food4HealthyLife calculator.
The computer model takes into account where a person lives, their age, and gender, and it then allows the researchers to measure the overall impact of an improved diet.
