Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction

Niall Horan
Niall James Horan (born 13 September 1993) is an Irish singer and songwriter. He rose to prominence as a member of the band One Direction. In 2010, Horan auditioned as a solo contestant for British singing competition The X Factor. After being eliminated as solo performers, Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson were put together in a band.

Simon Cowell vows to convince One Direction members to reunite again

An “amazing” One Direction reunion is on the cards, Simon Cowell believes. The music mogul, who created the group on TV’s X Factor 11 years ago, is convinced he can persuade the five to reform – as soon as he can get them all in a room together.

He said: “I think it will happen. If they got together, whether it’s making records again or touring, it would be the most amazing thing.” The group announced in 2015 they were taking “a hiatus”, months after Zayn Malik quit at the beginning of their world tour.

The remaining lads – Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan – continued the tour and recorded fifth album Made in the A.M.
