Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. He has judged on the British television talent competition series Pop Idol (2001–2003), The X Factor (2004–2010, 2014–present) and Britain's Got Talent (2007–present), and the American television talent competition series American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor (2011–2013), and America's Got Talent (2016–present). Cowell is the principal, founder and chief executive of the British entertainment company Syco.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell has revealed his eight year old son Eric played an important role in his marriage proposal to partner Lauren Silverman.

The couple, who have been together for 13 years and share son Eric, got engaged on Christmas Eve during a romantic sun-soaked holiday to Barbados.

Simon, 62, got down on one knee and popped the question to his partner Lauren, 44, who didn’t hesitate and said yes immediately.

But it was the couple’s young son that “coached” his dad for the big proposal, as Simon revealed on Entertainment Tonight.
