Simon Cowell has opened up about his mental health struggles, revealing that he's suffered from depression for a number of years. The 63-year-old music mogul has shared that his mental health reached a low-point during the Covid-19 pandemic, when he was left in a constant state of anxiety after a friend of his became quite ill with the disease.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the Britain's Got Talent judge said: "In the very, very, very early stages, some friends of mine got really ill and I’m talking about really ill. "So, I thought, ‘God, if I catch this, maybe the same thing’s going to happen to me, Eric and Lauren." "I didn’t know what was true or not [on the news], I just didn’t have a clue other than I was petrified about catching it.

Just petrified." Staying in LA with fiancée Lauren Silverman, and their son Eric, Simon recalled how he "didn’t see anybody" for months during the pandemic, aside from the occasional visitor, who had to be tested for the virus before being allowed in.

And although he rarely went out or had visitors, the TV talent judge shared that he was left so "petrified" by the disease that he was tested "about a thousand times." Following this time, Simon began attending therapy which he says has worked wonders for his mental health and both his personal and professional life - adding that he doesn't even check his show's ratings anymore.
