Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. He has judged on the British television talent competition series Pop Idol (2001–2003), The X Factor (2004–2010, 2014–present) and Britain's Got Talent (2007–present), and the American television talent competition series American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor (2011–2013), and America's Got Talent (2016–present). Cowell is the principal, founder and chief executive of the British entertainment company Syco.

Simon Cowell ‘nearly smashed his spine to pieces’ as he details horror accident

Simon Cowell has detailed his horrific accident last year when he broke his back after falling off an electric bike at his home in Malibu.He was unable to continue with his TV commitments and was forced to miss the 2020 series of both Britain’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent.Recalling his injury, the TV star told Extra that he knew as soon as he fell that his back was broken as it was ‘really kind of sudden and it hurt’.However he added that it could have been worse.‘When I saw the X-ray, I really nearly could have smashed my spine to pieces, so I literally wouldn’t have been able to walk,’ Simon said.Simon, 61, explained that his first instinct after the ‘surreal’ accident was to try and get back to his house, even though he knew it.
