Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. He has judged on the British television talent competition series Pop Idol (2001–2003), The X Factor (2004–2010, 2014–present) and Britain's Got Talent (2007–present), and the American television talent competition series American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor (2011–2013), and America's Got Talent (2016–present). Cowell is the principal, founder and chief executive of the British entertainment company Syco.

Simon Cowell has been named as an official ambassador for the Innocence Project. The 50-year-old was first introduced to the organisation thanks to Archie Williams’ incredible audition on America’s Got Talent – where he belted out Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.

The singer shocked viewers when he went on to explain he spent 36 years behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit. Archie was convicted in 1983, aged 22 and sentenced to life without parole, but the Innocence Project – a group of people committed to freeing innocent people who have been incarcerated – took up his case and fought for his freedom.
