19 year old apprentice bricklayer Jay vanished on June 17 while enjoying a three-day music festival with mates. After leaving his friends, he headed to an Airbnb with two others and later tried to return to his lodgings on foot in the early morning hours.
Embarking on what would be a dangerous 11-hour walk, Jay rang a friend to say his phone battery was nearly dead, he was dehydrated, and had injured his leg on a cactus.
The last signal from his mobile was detected in the mountainous vicinity of Masca village, which became the focal point for the Spanish police's search until they ceased operations last Sunday.
