Met Office forecasters provisionally recorded the hottest March day in more than 50 years as temperatures soared above 22C across the UK.Mercury hit a scorching 24.2C in St James’ Park in central London on Tuesday March 30.It is the hottest recorded temperature in the month since 1968, when the warmest ever March was recorded at Mepal in Cambridgeshire in 1968 when the heat reached 25.6C.The Met issued the provisional recording on Twitter as temperatures rose above 20C within four hours.In a tweet, the Met said: "Temperatures have exceeded 24°C in places today."This makes it provisionally the warmest March day in the UK for 53 years."Earlier on in the day, the Met Office tweeted there would be "exceptional warmth" and "massive" temperature
