Shotts boss John McKeown has warned his side are in a West of Scotland League First Division relegation dog-fight after losing 3-2 to St Roch’s.And he told his players not to feel sorry for themselves, after letting the Candy back into the game at Hannah Park.McKeown says they need to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in, starting at Neilston on Saturday, with his side a point above the relegation zone.He said: “The first half I thought we did really well, similar to last week, went 1-0 up, looked like we were going to add to it, and then for some reason we took our foot off the gas.“It’s another mistake that allows them to equalise in 46 minutes and it was the same last week at Gartcairn.“We’re allowing teams into the game at big moments and it’s coming back to haunt us.

But in all fairness, the second half St Roch’s were worthy of their win and it could have been more – they absolutely ran over the top of us.“We made it 2-2 and I thought we’d kick on, but we fell off the game again and another mistake leads to the winner.“I feel as if we’re in a bad place just now.

Confidence is shot, for whatever reason, and it’s not a good place to be.“We’ve not won a league game in a good few months, now, so we need to get our finger out, because we’re in a dog-fight, that’s for sure.“We can forget about all this promotion talk that was happening.“We were second in the league come the turn of the year, but we’ve not won enough games and we are definitely in a dog-fight to stay in the league, now, which is a really tough place to be.“But we’ve got more than half our season to go, so we need to remember that too, and not get too carried away.“We need to roll up our sleeves.
