Shop plans branded 'dangerous' as residents make 'lethal road' claim

Residents have railed against new shop plans set for a Kilmarnock street.Branded as 'dangerous' by some residents, the proposals to create a row of stores on Hill Street has attracted universal criticism with more than 20 objections lodged since plans went live earlier this month.The new units would sandwich the existing Key Store to create a mini row of shops.Vacant land on either side would make way for the development proposed by applicant Mohammed Ramzan.Four car park spaces at the Rosebank Place side of the site would be created along with a three-space loading bay on Hill Street.Residents have big concerns over traffic on the road and locals surmise that more shops won't help the issue.One resident said: "Also the traffic flow in this area is already huge from the college and the Halo with vehicles from there going to and from the roundabout."Add to that cars parked either side of the road outside houses all the way up in the bus stop area and things can often be at a standstill."Buses and lorries can hardly move in this area as it is.

Cars park across from the shop meaning drivers can't get stopped at the junction to turn into the Potteries."Drivers leaving the shop don't consider as they drive off someone may be at the side of them having come out from the junction.

Finally,add to the chaos a school run with vehicles and also children pedestrians. This area is just not big enough for all the extra traffic it's lethal as it is."Another disgruntled local added: "Size and positioning is critical when considering this application as it is likely to exacerbate a clear and present danger."What is clear that some of the ground does not belong to the applicant and there is a parking area despite the application stating
