Audiences are going to have quite a bit of waiting to do before Season 2 of Shōgun, as the upcoming installment is still being written.
Co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer Justin Marks told reporters backstage at the Golden Globes on Sunday night that he and the writers are “about six weeks from the end of the writers’ room” on Season 2.
Marks and the rest of the cast and crew remained quiet on any details regarding the new season, or when production will begin.
Deadline reported in May that the writers room was assembled last year and began over the summer. Shōgun concluded its awards season run with a big night at the Golden Globes, securing wins including Best TV Drama Series and acting trophies for defending Emmy champs Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai and also Tadanobu Asano, who lost the Emmy to The Morning Show‘s Billy Crudup.
