The driver was “heavily intoxicated” and had to be cut free by firefighters following the smash, which happened in Salford in the early hours of Monday morning (July 12) between junctions 16 and 15.
They were not seriously injured during the incident. They were taken to hospital and blood samples were taken for analysis, traffic police say.
Photographs taken after the collision and shared by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) show the car flipped over onto its roof.
