One of America's most infamous true crime cases is set to be explored in a new Netflix documentary. At eight months pregnant, Laci Peterson went missing from her home in Modesto, California, on Christmas Eve 2002.
The disturbing case captured the nation’s attention, dominating news media night after night. That April, the decomposing body of Laci's unborn son was found by dog walkers in a marshy area of a San Francisco Bay shore park.
A day later, Laci's body was found washed up on the rocky shoreline of the bay, a mile away from where the baby's body was found.
The corpse was decomposed to the point of being almost unrecognizable as a human body - and missing its head, arms and most of the legs.
