A friend of a vulnerable teenager found dead in woodland after 'running' from a hospital where she was being treated on a ward full of elderly patients has told an inquest she 'had a look in her eye and knew what she was going to do'.
An inquest into the death of Evelin Chacko - which is exploring whether she should have been detained under the Mental Health Act - heard a nurse complained to bosses at Royal Bolton Hospital as it was 'unfair' to be on a regular ward with much older patients.
Evelin, 16, was found hanged in woodland near the hospital on July 13, 2020. She was admitted on July 1 following an overdose at her home in Farnworth.
Her family previously told the court there were 'systemic failures' at 'every stage' prior to her death. Evelin was admitted to ward C2 at Royal Bolton Hospital, a 'complex care ward' where most of the patients were elderly.
