When Nadine Coyle gave the ‘wrong date of birth’ on Popstars its status as an iconic moment in Irish TV history was cemented forever, because we all know how it ended.

A slip of the tongue revealed that the then 16-year-old Nadine wasn’t the required 18 years old, and she was subsequently filmed being grilled by panicked producers while she searched for her passport.

Nadine was ultimately kicked off the show and she wasn’t the only one devastated by the lie. At the time, judge Linda Martin’s disappointment was plain for viewers to see, clearly taking it harder than her fellow judges Louis Walsh and Bill Hughes.
