A 'cruel' mum pretended to be seriously ill in hospital and claimed she needed money for life saving treatment in order to swindle thousands of pounds from her former partner.
Marta Szymanska, 43, duped her ex-boyfriend into believing she had the brain condition encephalitis and that she only had a 50/50 chance of survival.
During her callous con spanning two years, she had other men calling her ex posing as doctors and demanding cash and even claiming she had miscarried a baby.
She also sent fake emails purporting to be from the NHS and the Citizens Advice Bureau to back up her fake stories. The victim, who lives in Chester, ended up borrowing money from friends and family and nearly lost his house due to the scam, which saw him lose a total of £34,284.30.
