Shania Twain has often made last-minute alterations to her red carpet outfits. In a new video for Vogue titled Life in Looks, the Canadian singer-songwriter reflected on some of her most iconic looks from the past two decades, and in particular, paid special attention to the one-shoulder black gown she chose to wear to the first annual VH1 Divas concert in 1998.
However, Shania divulged that she took a needle and thread and stitched up the thigh-high slit shortly before heading to the event. “I’m very self-conscious at this point about my leg,” she recalled. “It was an open slit, right up, almost to the hip, and I just couldn’t wear it like that.
