ISIS bride Shamima Begum's bid to return to the UK has cost taxpayers an estimated £30,000, according to reports. The 20-year-old - whose lawyers say could face the death penalty in Iraq or Bangladesh - was stripped of her British citizenship by the government last year.
The controversial move, made by former Home Secretary Sajid Javid, left her at risk of death or inhuman and degrading treatment, her lawyers have argued.
Ms Begum, who left London as a 15-year-old schoolgirl to travel to Syria in 2015, has said she is desperate to return home, and is willing to face charges back in the UK.
