Shona Robison jetted off to one of Europe’s most exclusive ski resorts to spend Christmas in a luxury spa hotel just days after raising taxes and axing services in her budget.
The under-fire SNP Finance Secretary spent the festivities at the four-star Heliopic Hotel and Spa in the French Alps resort of Chamonix where rooms cost up to £520 a night, the Sunday Mail can reveal.
Champagne-sipping Robison flew out in the wake of announcing tax rises and spending cuts which will heap pain on families and businesses already crippled by the cost of living crisis.
Chamonix is a favourite winter retreat for royalty and celebrities including George Clooney and Kylie Minogue. Pictures show Robison, who earns £112,919, and her daughter enjoying drinks and dinner at the hotel’s Michelin-recommended Ashokan restaurant where a £78 three-course menu includes foie gras, black truffle and scallops.
