Mr Molloy, a bouncer and plant hire operative from Swinton, Salford, was arrested after police were called to the property on Elgin Street in Halliwell, Bolton, the night before. He then began to 'behave in a strange manner', including rummaging through drawers and ripping up paper. In a statement released after the conclusion of the inquest, his family's solicitor said he was asked to leave the property, but a physical altercation with another man occurred when he refused to do so.
Mr Molloy, who was 48, went on to be placed in a series 'chokeholds', rendering him unconscious, said the solicitor. Officers arrived and found him on the kitchen floor ripping up a birthday card.
