Seven-month-old baby dies on A1 as police investigate if crash linked to ice on road

A tragic incident happened late last night when a baby boy was killed in a crash, with police probing the potential link to icy conditions.

Officers responded to a single-vehicle accident involving a yellow Honda Jazz on the A1 near Grantham in Lincolnshire shortly after 10.50pm on Thursday.

The vehicle veered off the southbound lane, struck a tree, and re-entered the roadway about 500 yards from the Spittlegate junction.

The seven-month-old infant was rushed to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead just after 5am, Lincolnshire Police said. The family is receiving support from specially-trained officers.
