Sergio Perez has accepted public and private apologies from Helmut Marko for offensive remarks about his nationality - but Lewis Hamilton reckons his walkback didn't go far enough.Red Bull adviser and former racer Marko received widespread criticism for his comments referring to Perez as "South American," a factual inaccuracy as Perez is from Mexico which was taken as offensive by many.

He also suggested Perez's heritage makes him mentally weaker than his European rivals. After initially refusing to back down, he apologised publicly and Perez reveals he also had a private conversation with Marko about his remarks. And the F1 star says he's happy now to draw a line under the matter.

He said: "I had a private conversation with him, he did apologise and that to me was the main thing. We will move on, and I have a personal relationship with him, and you can always have the feeling, when you see that stuff, knowing the person helps a lot because I know he doesn't mean it that way."I took his apology because I know Helmut and know that he didn't mean it that way.

If I were to look at the comments, I would feel (the anti-Mexican bias), but I know Helmut."It didn't sound like that to me, and whatever I say to the media or he says to the media is different to the conversations that we have.
