Selena Gomez has shared her personal journey with a trailer for her new documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me. Directed and produced by Alek Keshishian, who’s famous for Madonna: Truth or Dare, which was also produced by Apple TV+, the documentary spans six years in the singer-actress’s life.
In a segment that shows footage of her receiving her lupus diagnosis, as well as claims that she suffered a nervous breakdown, Gomez says: “I’m going to stop living like this. ” The star has been candid about her mental-health struggles in the past, revealing in 2020 that she had a bipolar disorder diagnosis.
Speaking on Miley Cyrus’s Instagram Live talk show Bright Minded, she said: “Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in the world, but definitely in America, McLean’s Hospital, and I discussed that, after years of going through a lot of different things, I realised that I was bipolar.
She added: “And so, when I got to know more information, it actually helps me. It doesn’t scare me once I know it. And I think people get scared of that, right?”The star, who has worked since she was 10 years old, has lived most of her life in the spotlight, which has taken a toll.
