Selena Gomez is looking back at the reasons she made the decision to not stay in touch with a few of her Wizards of Waverly Place co-stars.

Appearing on the Wizards of Waverly Pod podcast with Jennifer Stone and David Deluise, the 30-year-old actress and singer explained her reasons that she lost touch with the both of them after the Disney Channel series ended. Keep reading to find out more… Selena explained to both of them that she didn’t keep in touch because she “felt ashamed of the decisions that I made.” “I didn’t want you guys to see me in the state that I was in, because A, you would have told me the truth, which terrifies me, and B, I didn’t want to let you down,” she said.

Her response had both Jennifer and David appreciated her candid answer. “That’s really sweet, and thank you for saying that,” David, who played her on-screen dad, said. “Obviously I miss you.” Jennifer, who played her BFF Harper Finkle, then told Selena she’s thought a lot about why they hadn’t kept in touch over the years.

As for Jennifer, she appreciates Selena opening up about that point in time, noting that she’s often thought about the shift in communication. “I appreciate you saying that too, because to be perfectly blunt, there has been times where I’m like, ‘Did we stop being friends because I didn’t tell her what she wanted to hear?’” Jennifer shared. “You know what I mean?
