Security was ramped up for the EastEnders stars at the National Television Awards (NTAs) due to safety worries. Extra precautions were taken for EastEnders celebs such as Jessie Wallace, Adam Woodyatt, and Jacqueline Jossa at the star-studded London event on Wednesday, September 11 following a suspected stalker's intentions to confront their favourite actors.

A source from the NTA disclosed to The Sun: "Having that many A-listers in one place meant The O2 was already incredibly well guarded but the threat to the 'EastEnders' cast meant additional measures were put in place." Before the big night, security teams were briefed about the potential danger. The insider shared: "An image of the suspected stalker was sent among staff so they knew who to look out for." BBC chiefs decided to take action when the overenthusiastic fan announced their plans to be at the NTAs.

Despite leading "fairly normal lives" away from the cameras, it was agreed that no chances should be taken with the EastEnders actors at the awards ceremony. The source added: "EastEnders cast tread the line between being instantly recognisable household names and also living fairly normal lives. "They get the Tube and train to work, do their own supermarket shops and can mostly go about their business with just the odd fan encounter or selfie request.

But bosses have to draw the line somewhere and when the stalker made their plans clear to attend the event, something had to be done." It may come as a surprise, but TV fans can snap up tickets to walk the same red carpet as the stars at the NTAs.
