Second major retailer to pull out of Ayrshire shopping centre as Clarks set for closure

Customers have been told that the shop - one of the staples of the town centre sites - will close next week.It comes just days after jewellers Ernest Jones pulled the shutters down and confirmed they were moving to a new unit in Glasgow's Silverburn shopping centre.We can reveal that Clarks is now the next store on the move, but bosses at the footwear specialist have remained tight-lipped on plans.Customers have been told that the store will close next Thursday.A spokesperson for Ayr Central confirmed that they were aware Clarks was going to close but added: "We'll be fully active in back filling that space like we have at other empty units."Clarks were contacted for comment.
