Scottish restaurant wins best in UK as seven others feature in prestigious top 100 list

A Scottish restaurant has been crowned the best in the UK in a prestigious annual diners poll. Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles was named the top restaurant by Harden's in their Best UK Restaurants guide for 2023.

A total of eight Scottish restaurants are featured in the top 100, including spots in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Fife.The world-famous restaurant at Gleneagles has been called a "memory to be treasured", and reached the top spot due its luxurious ingredients prepared with "impeccable skill and creativity" and attentive staff who are "knowledgeable in all respects".The only two Michelin star restaurant in Scotland, Andrew Fairlie’s restaurant offers guests an "indulgent evening in a relaxed and comfortable environment".

Its signature dish is Home Smoked Scottish Lobster with a Lime and Herb Butter, while produce is from the restaurant's own Victorian Walled ‘Secret Garden’.Co-founder of Harden’s Peter Harden said: "Andrew Fairlie may sadly no longer be with us but his spirit lives on in this restaurant which bears his name.

Reaching the top spot this year is a huge credit to his long-time lieutenants, head chef Stephen McLaughlin and general manager Dale Dewsbury."Elsewhere, three Edinburgh restaurants appear in the top 100: The Kitchin, Restaurant Martin Wishart, and The Little Chartroom.
